The Time For Revival Has Come

Jim Watt

Our country needs a revival. We have gone more than two entire generations without a nation-wide move of God. We are running on less than empty, on the dregs instead of the fuel. A time of refreshing must come. We have seen pockets of limited blessing and showers of minor effect. We have seen biblical truths restored and spiritual gifts recovered. But what about a coast to coast awakening? What about a national shaking? What about revival in our land?

What makes revival different than normal patterns of church growth? What are the traits of a real visitation?

A true revival is absolutely supernatural in its working. It is totally God-glorifying in its character. No flesh can boast in its presence. It can not be produced, manufactured, or worked up. It is poured out, poured on, and poured in, a deluge of God from heaven. It carries all things along on the crest of its waves; it is driven by the wind of the Spirit. Listen to one observer's report of the Welsh Revival of 1904: There is something there from the other world. You can not say whence it came or wither it is going, but it moves and lives and reaches for you all the time. You see men and women go down in sobbing agony before your eyes as the invisible Hand clutches your heart. And you shudder (William T. Stead). Revival comes from God!

A true revival is sudden and spontaneous. It can not be orchestrated or scheduled. You can not "fit it in." It can not be thought out or planned for. It frustrates methods of man. Revival bursts forth like a torrent. No one is ready for the flood - even when you know it's coming! When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them (Acts 2:1-4).

Have you ever thought back to that day? If any group of believers was ever prepared, it was that group of 120. Yet the Spirit still came suddenly with a sound like the blowing of a violent wind. It was the first day of a great biblical feast, but His coming was still a surprise. The disciples had no idea what they were in for. So it is with every genuine move of God. It is always more than you expect!

A true revival is uncontrollable and uncontainable. No human agency can rule it; no group can hem it in. No church can set its limits; it spreads like wild fire. All you can do is get out of the way! Can you reason with a tornado or argue with a tidal wave? Can you harness the power of a hurricane or control the force of an earthquake? How much less can you contain the Spirit of God? When God's glory comes, human efforts must cease.

The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34-35). The temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God (2 Chronicles 5:13-14). God's presence excludes all performance.

A true revival brings an overwhelming revelation of the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man. In revival, God reveals Himself as He really is. The blinders are taken off our eyes. Trite religious clichés fall aside. You are given a vision of God.

Do you realize that God is so holy that just seeing Him convicts you of sin? Those who are closest to His throne are overwhelmed. They never stop saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come . the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and worship Him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, "You are worthy, our Lord and God" (Revelation 4:8-11).

Our God is so awesome and pure!

Isaiah was a prophet. Yet when he saw the Lord he was completely undone. Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty! (Isaiah 6:5)

Job was a righteous man commended by God. Yet in light of God's splendor he was only a worm: My ears had heard of You but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes (Job 42:5-6). Simon Peter went fishing with Jesus. He let the Master teach out of his boat. But when the might and power of the Lord were revealed, "he fell at Jesus' knees and said, 'Go away from me Lord; I am a sinful man'" (Luke 5:8).

The best cure for a self-righteous spirit is an open vision of God. Revival reveals God. His people weep and repent. The unsaved groan in their sins. Then mercy is poured out.

A true revival transforms those it touches. People are genuinely saved. Hardened sinners snap in two. Chronic backsliders are delivered. Shallow believers dive deep. One moment of divine visitation bears more fruit than twenty years of counseling and teaching. God confirms His word. "We had all heard our fathers speak of the great effects which they in their youth had seen accompanying the preaching of the word, and the influence which the outpouring of the spirit was wont to have on the minds of the people assembled for worship; but we had never seen the like ourselves, at least in the measure which our fathers were accustomed to say they had seen; and, therefore, a kind of skepticism concerning its reality frequently possessed us. But now this skepticism was to be taken away forever" (From the Welsh Revival of 1859). Revival brings lasting results.

A true revival has a life giving effect on the society as a whole. It does not just take place "in the church." It is not confined to a building. It flows out and changes the world. Several factors bring this about. First, when large numbers of sinners get saved, there is not so much sinning going on! Less murderers means lower murder rates. A decrease in thieves means a decline in theft. When drug dealers get delivered, drug dealing diminishes. In times of revival, bars are converted to churches, and pornographic theaters are used for evangelistic rallies. The owners have gotten saved!

This is not the only factor that impacts the society. God's people have come alive too! They are actively standing for righteousness. They are confronting sin on their jobs and ugliness in their communities. Their lives have become truly holy. They shine forth God's light like a torch. Justice returns to the courts. Reverence returns to the schools. Jesus is Lord of His Church!

But there is one more spiritual influence, an unseen power at work. There is a supernatural "chain reaction," a "divine radiation zone" (Winkie Pratney). The angels of God are everywhere. The armies of heaven have come. The very air is filled with God's presence. Conviction pervades the atmosphere. Dreadful fear grips the godless.

Here is a typical account: In Coleraine, Ireland, in 1959, revival had reached fever pitch. When a schoolboy testified in class of his great joy in finding the Lord, the Spirit began to move on the other students. Boy after boy rose and silently left the room. When the master investigated what was happening to his class he found these boys ranged alongside the wall of the playground, everyone apart on his knees! Their silent prayer soon became a bitter cry which brought conviction to those inside - not only the other boys, but to the girls' schoolroom above. Soon the whole school was on its knees, and its wail of distress brought people flocking in from the street who, as they crossed the threshold, came under the same convicting power. Every room was filled with men, women, and children seeking God (Arthur Wallis).

Examples like this could be quoted almost without limit. Heaven-sent revivals are real!

Can you see now where our so-called revivals of recent years have fallen short? Can you see how superficial they were? Do you realize where they have been lacking? Do you see how bankrupt we are? If we can see this, we are moving in the right direction. It is only the hungry that He fills.

Come Search Your Hearts

Yolanda Ballard

Draw close to Me, My children, for I delight to be with you..... when you give Me your undivided attention. I am so pleased when My children draw near to Me and delight to be in My presence.

Come unto Me all who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest and will refresh you..... because the enemy has tried to come in as a flood to destroy try to discourage you and divide you from My intimate presence. But you, My children, will not allow that! Nothing will separate you from My love. You love to draw near to Me and bask in My presence. I am your chief be able to worship Me, obey Me, and seek My face. You love so much to be with Me for I see your hearts.

For some My word is like a stumbling block, and for those who are close to Me, it is a stepping stone. Keep your hearts pliable, My children, for I will soon be revealing to you things in your heart that you need to let go of. I will be bringing to the surface areas in your heart where you are not completely and fully trusting Me. There are areas you are holding on to doing things your own way. You have not completely let go and let Me have full control. There are areas you are still holding on to; therefore, there are areas of bondage in your hearts.

So come unto Me and open your heart completely for Me to enter and purge all that is not of Me. For this is a time of new beginnings....time to set the captives free to be the people I called them to be. Now is the time to make amends with your brother. Now is the time to pay back your debts to those in My body....words that you have not kept and even things you haven't returned after you have borrowed them.

Now is the time to search your hearts to see if there is anything on your part that is holding back unity in My body....even anything that you have done to cause bitterness in the heart of your brother. Now is the time to search your heart for the little foxes are those that spoil the vine! Things that seem minute and unimportant could be that which is holding your brother in bondage.

So I say to you.....draw near to your heart. Let Me do a deeper work in you of utmost importance for this is a time of uniting My body, says your God.

Separation Unto Advancement

Doug Fortune

SEPARATION and ADVANCEMENT... these are words I am hearing over and over in my spirit for this coming year. "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the DIVIDING ASUNDER of soul and spirit..."(Heb. 4:12)

I believe that this year will bring a clearer separation between SOUL and SPIRIT for many. God will be separating some things in our lives that have their basis and essence in the realm of the SOUL, rather than the realm of the SPIRIT. There will be some relationships and alliances that will have to change. Some have ties and alliances with religious Babylon that will have to be separated. "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."(2 Cor. 6:17) God will not allow us to bring defiled religious mentalities into the Holy Thing that He is birthing into the earth. I see a great clarity into the present revealing of mysteries coming to those who are willing to lay aside preconceived religious mentalities... the seals of revelation are indeed being broken open.

I see many standing at the banks of the river Jordan like Elisha. The word Jordan in Hebrew means to descend, to pull down. Like Elisha, we must smite those waters, with the mantle of Christ. God will cause many of those things that pull us down, to be SEPARATED from us, just as He separated the waters for Elisha. The Father is not bringing this separation just so that we may stand and look at the dry ground before us, it is so that we may pass on through. It is a SEPARATION unto ADVANCEMENT. For some, this separation will just look like a lot of dry ground; after all, He may separate some things that we hold near and dear, but are holding us down nonetheless. Don't stand there looking at the dry ground of your loss, press through and step into your destiny. You are being SEPARATED unto ADVANCEMENT!

As I speak of separation, don't misunderstand these words as having anything to do with building walls of separation between brothers or sisters in the Lord. I am speaking of a separation of SOULISH bondages and mentalities that hinder us from moving into our destiny. Yes, you might possibly end up having less involvement with some people and more with others, but be careful not to build walls along the way. "Follow peace with all men... lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled."(Heb. 12:14-15)

For those who are willing to embrace this separation, I see great advancement into your God-ordained destiny. Many have been given a dream, a word, a promise, specifically concerning your destiny; and that dream has all but died. As you release that totally into His hands in separation, He can bring a resurrection. Know that it may possibly resurrect in a different form than you expect, don't try to put destiny in a box.

This may sound like a contradiction (although it's not), but along with the separation of the SOULISH, I see joinings in the SPIRIT. Be prepared for God to orchestrate spiritual connections and relationships, joining you to those who hold a key to you fulfilling His destiny for you, and you holding a key for them. I see a much greater emphasis on the CORPORATE anointing in the Body of Christ coming to the forefront; this emphasis even coming forth in the more 'mainstream' Christianity. The day of the lone wolf , or the one man show are over. "Not forsaking the ASSEMBLING of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."(Heb. 10:25) This ASSEMBLING is not just gathering under one roof for a meeting. It is the assembling of a BODY where each member provides a function and all are interdependent. This JOINING is integral to ADVANCEMENT!

Separation... Advancement... Joining... these are the things I'm hearing for the coming year. May the Lord continue to reveal Himself within you and through you.

Are You Willing?

Dave Howe

My People - Are you willing to lay everything down - Are willing to let go of your ways - Let go of your ideas.

Are you willing to lay down your lives as I lay down my life for you at the cross - For I gave my all for you my people.

For My Word says that you should deny yourself and take up your cross daily - For he who holds on to his life - Holds on to his way shall lose it - But he who loses his life for my sake shall find life - Who follows my way shall find life - For wide is the way to destruction but narrow is the way to life says the Lord.

Be not afraid my people - But turn to face God - Yes seek my face - Seek me with all your might - For I am waiting for you - Waiting to turn your mourning into dancing.

Keep in step with my Spirit - Yes climb up the ladder before you - Climb the ladder of prayer before you my people - Yes come up into heavenlys in prayer.

Mount up Mount up upon those wings of eagles - Mount up upon those wings of prayer that I have given you - Yes use those gifts that I have freely given you by my spirit - For it is on your knees that you shall rise up - That you shall see my Glory come down.

My People - Are you willing to lay everything down before me - Willing to let go of your ways and seek my face with all your might - For the way down is the way up.

For after the crucifixion came the resurrection and then the ascension says the Lord.

360 Degree Vision!

Debra Westbrook

The Lord began to show me a wall surrounding a city. The city is Zion. I saw intercessors begin to be stationed on the wall, going around the whole wall, forming a 360 degree circle around this great city. It was a circle of authority and a circle of divine unity for the purposes of our God. As each took their position on the wall, each person was able to see, as a watchman, a field of vision that is directly in front of them, higher in the spirit than they previously had been. God is strategically increasing the field of vision for many, many of His intercessors in this time.

Standing side by side, along this wall, each one's field of vision overlapped with the person's next to them. Once again, God is crying out for a unity in the Spirit to bring forth His kingdom purposes in this day. Where one's field of vision ended, the other's began because they stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder in the Spirit. A circle of divine intercession will form and cover the earth in prayer.

Each one called to come higher will have a specific assignment for this day! God's desire is for Targeted Intercession and Divine Strategy for this hour. The war is on in the heavenly realm! Strategic intercession will target specific areas and nations of the world. Strategic locations will be assigned to many right now for bringing forth God's plans and purposes for this hour.

Unity! Unity! Unity! The Lord would say: Find your place on the wall. Rise up and take your place! For I am divinely positioning you and placing you upon the wall of the city. Zion is calling you higher. Assume your position for My purpose. Go higher! Petition My throne room for the nations of the world. Stay alert! Rouse from your slumber! Trumpet a call into the heavenly realm that the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever. Do you not know that there is authority in the words that I place in your mouth? They do not come back void but divinely impact the nations with the truth of My Word. Proclaim my word! Proclamation will bring devastation to the kingdoms of darkness that keep nations and people groups in bondage and captivity at this time.

Rivers of Eden

Trail Blazers

Pam Clark

Oh how easy it can be to follow! Especially if you are two generations behind on the leadership. In other words, the one who is following the one who is behind the one who blazed the trail. By then, most of the bugs have been worked out! Decency and order comes easy then.

But if you are the trail blazer, every mistake shows up like heresy. How hard it is to find true friends. Like birds feeding on the ground, a wind, a movement, will set them scurrying. But for the true trail blazers, it matters not.

Jesus said, (and He was perfect), "Will you leave Me too?" He said they had to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Generations later, Holy Communion with these words are not big deal. People do it without even asking why too loud. They even have fancy service containers. But when He first presented it, almost everyone left.

The Little Guy

Who stuck with Jesus? Wasn't it the "little guy"? Wasn't it the ones who didn't have a lot to lose from the order of their lives? With what little they had, they took big risks. They gave when they didn't really have it to spare with their own needs, but they believed in something.

Who Comforted His Heart?

Most of the comfort and support Jesus received was not recorded in the Scriptures, though it was obvious He could not have run the ministry He did without it. He supported at times more that just the twelve with their families (because you know he did not leave their wives and children and extended family without support!). So it must have been the "little people" with their gifts, a few big donors were noted, but they did not support the whole work. Women were a strong support in His mainstay and were treated with dignity and respect.

Obedience and sacrifice is what pleased Jesus. Life was so full that He asked people not to overmake the miracles they received. It prevented Him from carrying the power to the next town. What did He say to the disciples to do (in so many words)? Stir yourself up! You have it within you, too!

But how many want to pay the price? Ministry is easy when it is all status quo. Ministry is great with the right "ad campaign." But don't expect too much life changing activity, because that kind of ministry is more difficult. Why? Because you are dealing with the devils in people's lives that hinder them. Signs and wonders will draw a crowd. But when you ask for a piece of the pie, you may get denied. You really know it when religion and rules and fleshly qualifications (and all your money) is required.

Can You Discern?

It comes down to discerning. If we are comfortable, we aren't really going to look for too much more. To get our attention, something dramatic usually has to occur.

But what is really going on?

Is personal relationship with God really going on? Do you feel alive or dead inside? What is your influence on others? Fighting any devils?

There is a System

There is a system but it's not with a bunch of rules and requirements. It's with an understanding of Spiritual order. Someone went to the Cross. Someone paid a price when it was not popular and everyone told them it ought to be a different way.

But this way knocked off devils and opened the glory of God for the individual (allof them). But do they really want Him? You have to love other people, too. You have to LOVE those less fortunate than you are.

You can support the system and it not touch your heart. But if you can handle a little pain and risk with trust, you may be surprised at what you get in return.

Is Pain what it is all about?

No, pain is not what it is all about or Satan would be casting out Satan and his kingdom would be divided. But sensitivity - the circumcision of the heart - where you become aware of the feelings and infirmities of others and have good sense about what's right - is what is asked.

Wisdom and common sense are important because you can get mobbed if people think you have the answers. The only way is His way and growing in that strength and plan. It will take a little trail blazing in your own life.

Many are called and few are chosen, because they don't want to pay or pray the price. But for those who do, it will take finding that ~reasonable~ service and allowing God to embrace them and work in them His unfailing plan of redemption for all mankind.

Yes, third and fourth generation ministry looks good! But somehow as time goes by, it's light dims and those who say they "got it" can't reach the "unlovely" with His Loveliness. But they do have a system! The fruit looks good but it's in reality the fruit of the past.

Is Christ in your life today? Can you say you know Him? Does He know you?

Spiritual Migration

Pastor John Kempf

I recently began to read the O.T. book of Deuteronomy again. It has been very profitable. Thus far I have gleaned some significant spiritual dynamics from Deuteronomy that are germane to the present spiritual migration of the church. Meaning that the church is in movement; in transition, in a spiritual shift or adjustment, an advancement from one spiritual location to another. The destination of this migration is leading the church to its rightful place of spiritual residency, which it is to occupy and wherein it is to prosper. Lets look at Deuteronomy and locate the basis for this premise.

Deuteronomy emphasizes that God's people are predestined to receive a spiritual inheritance; the redeemed are predestined to walk in the tangible, manifestation of covenant-based redemption. This spiritual transition emphasizes that "the God of...Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it" (Acts 13:17).

The principle is that God brings His chosen people out of Egypt (the spiritual type of the world), and delivers them from its cruel bondage. Thus, we are to understand that with redemption comes deliverance from demonic oppression and hellish enslavement to a lifestyle of bondage to Pharaoh--the spiritual type of the god of this world (Ex 2:23, 3:7, 3:9-10).

Therefore, deliverance is the necessary precursor to the current spiritual migration of the church. For God not only deliver us from Satan and the world, but God then leads us toward the Land of Promise, the place and position of hope and total spiritual fulfillment, the exact opposite of the place of bondage (Exodus 3:8, Ephesians 1:3).

We must not underestimate that in spiritual migration, the transition is always from the place of the worst toward the place of that which is the best--we're talking about total renovation of lifestyle, an entirely new template that redefines what constitutes normative living (Luke 4:18).

Therefore, Deuteronomy shows us that with deliverance comes advancement, relocation, movement toward a new and improved spiritual destination. I like the way Deuteronomy 6:12 and 6:23 illustrate the point. Deuteronomy 6:12 says, "...the LORD...brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." Then 6:23 says, "And He brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers." Notice the spiritual migration entails movement from deficit, lack, bondage, oppression toward the place of promised blessing and refreshing! It is crucial to point out that the emphasis highlights the fact that life is always better with God than without God (Deuteronomy 6:10-11).

Ultimately, the spiritual migration that Deuteronomy speaks of teaches us that as we come out of Egypt--the world's way of living in a dry, barren, unproductive, spiritually dead wilderness, we then enter into total deliverance and receive the exceedingly great and precious promises that God has for us (Deuteronomy 1:7-8).

Moreover, Deuteronomy 1:21 says, "Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it." In other words, another element in the present spiritual migration of the church is that of "upward mobility." That is because life in Christ demands that we have an upward mentality, an upward mindset (Colossians 3:10). Thus the Apostle Paul spoke of reaching toward, the "high calling" of God in Christ (Philippians 3:14).

The apostolic anointing challenges the church to break free of all manner of bondage; to be free from every form of oppression, depression, resistance, lack, deficiency, and captivity in order that the church may receive its spiritual inheritance, and occupy its rightful spiritual territory, the Promised Land, which is not just a spiritual concept, but a literal reality, a genuine place for the N.T. church to occupy.

The Bowing of the Sun and Moon

Michael Danforth

There are many aspects of God's glory in the earth and in the heavens. Each glory exists for the sole purpose of revealing the kingdom of God. Every glory is created for a time and season, looking toward a greater one that is destined to exceed it for the purpose of illuminating a much more glorious dimension of God's kingdom. Therefore the glory of one thing diminishes in light of the other. Paul gives us some wonderful insight concerning this very thing in 2Cor. 3:9-11. He writes, " For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious."

For hundreds of years there have been men and women of God that have yielded their lives to the leading of the Holy Spirit, they became passages ways for others to enter into greater levels of God's glory. These levels of glory as described by Habakkuk, is knowledge of the glory of the Lord (Hab 2:14), a knowing that comes only by God's spirit. It's the ability to see into the kingdom of God and be transformed into its likeness. Thus, our journey continues as described by the apostle Paul, "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2Cor.3:18)

As the body of Christ continues to mature and grow into a greater perception of its own existence in God, every glorious element in the entire universe will begin to diminish in glory as the final appearing of Jesus Christ draws ever nearer. In the other words, even the sun, moon and stars are beginning to fade or bow into nonexistence as God's glory begins to accelerate in the earth. Why? Because they are temporary signs of God's glory and light. They are just a few of the many signs that were placed into existence at the beginning of time, declaring to the world that God is our glorious creator.

These creations of glory have been serving as mere introductions to a greater glory that is destined to exceed them in their seemingly unchallenged brilliance. The natural light of this world was created for natural man. It's light gives sight to the human side of creation. Just like the law was a tutor to faith, so is the natural lighting of this universe a tutor to a greater light that shines from the inside out rather than the outside in. In our final state of illumination there will be no more need for the sun and moon. In other words our seeing will be totally through the light of God's spirit.

Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, yet God was still being formed in them. Daily He would come in the cool of the day and speak into their lives forming them for the purpose of having in dominion in the earth. (Gen 3:8) (Gen 1:28) The intentions of God was to illuminate the world with His glory through the multiplication of mankind. Therefore the sun, moon and stars were created as temporary lights from the beginning, longing for the day that they would one day surrender their glory to a greater glory that was destined to exceed their brightness. A brightness that would be blinding through the eyes of the spirit rather than the eyes of the flesh.

There is a great army rising up in the earth in this present hour and this army is growing brighter and brighter every day. Joel describes how the universe will respond to the presence of this army, "the earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars diminish their brightness. (Joel 2:10)

Therefore, we are about to witness the breaking of great barrier of light, a barrier that will be broken making way for a greater light of glory and perception of God's kingdom to be released in the earth. The sun and moon are moving into a bowing position, ready to give up their light to the king of lights that has been destined to exceed them since the beginning of creation. The lights that are seen, which are temporary, are making way for the eternal lights that have been unseen which are eternal. (2Cor. 4:18) Jesus said you are the light of the world, a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matt 5:14)

We are becoming a city that will no longer have use for the light of the sun or moon, for God will illuminate us. (Rev 21:22-26) No longer will the light of the gospel of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the image of God, remain veiled from the rest of the world.
