Assyrians
The Assyrians were used in the Roman military. It was the early Assyrian policy of deporting conquered populations to alien habitats, where, mingled with the natives, they might lose their unity and identity, and have less opportunity to rebel. Revolts came nevertheless, and Assyria had to keep herself always ready for war. Army, chariots, armor.
After falling to the Medes, the monarchy was divided between them and the Babylonians, and the very name of Assyria was thenceforth forgotten.
The Assyrians were a race of people belonging to the great Semitic race. They were of Babylonian descent and dominated the ancient biblical world from the 9th to the 7th centuries BC. The Assyrians occupied Palestine from time to time. God used them to scatter the ten tribes of Israel.
