Maimonides
Maimonides was an Arabic Jewish philosopher. His commentaries on the philosophy of
Aristotle influenced western thought. Maimonides was a contemporary of Averroes, the story of his
influence during the middle ages is to a large extent the story of a warfare between
conservative rabbis, on one side, and philosophers and men of science, on the other.
