Everywhere around the world, people are becoming more aware of political, social and spiritual issues. Such things as religion, democracy, freedom, human and civil rights, economics and politics are now in the public eye, even in undeveloped countries. These same people have also been exposed to the greed, exploitation, government corruption, war and violence that is dominating the earth. Ignorance is no longer an excuse in the nations, it is now possible to see what is going on first hand by spectators, when it happens, anywhere on the face of the earth. Along with this new awareness is also new propaganda in the form of commentators, lying politicians, news specialists, special interest groups, multi-nationalists, self-seeking reporters, commercialism and prejudicial eye-witnesses.

It is the church of Babylon that denounce what they call "the liberal press," TV, newspaper, radio, magazines, etc. If one does not like what is designed to communicate established liberal values to the masses, that one has never understood what it means to be liberal. The fact is that the media have become puppets of the right-wing insanity that has gripped America. The force that funds mass media is advertising and there is only the profit motive involved here. Complete truth cannot be told from the same media that are afraid to speak truth against the hand that feeds them.

As journalist and media critic Robert McChesney tells it, "As the mainstream media has become increasingly dependent on advertising revenues for support, it has become an anti-democratic force in society." Americans are very willing to accept the lies of the right wing media if they think that it makes their lives easier." This is why the police state is glorified and police brutality is ignored. The ideal of civil rights is played up while the instances of human rights abuses and denial of constitutional rights are downplayed.

The crimes of the United States are known throughout the whole world and fully documented except in the United States where the general public is blinded to these things through media entertainment, leisure and the good life. Because they believe the lies, God sends them strong delusions, the media knows but refuses to talk about them. This is why you will only find the truth in public radio and television and from the independent press. If you really want the truth you are going to have to dig deeper than what is seen on the surface and find out these things for yourselves.

Gore Vidal writes, "The corporate grip on opinion in the United States is one of the wonders of the Western world. No First World country has ever managed to eliminate so entirely from its media all objectivity - much less dissent."

Another writer, John Whiting, commenting on the homogenization of corporate media program content said that "The purpose of commercial [media] is to induce mass sales. For mass sales there must be a mass norm ... By suppressing the individual, the unique, the industry ... assures itself a standard product for mass consumption."

"The enormous gap between what US leaders do in the world and what Americans think their leaders are doing is one of the great propaganda accomplishments of the dominant political mythology," says Michael Parenti, political scientist and author. And of course it is the American media that is spearheading these messages all over the world. The overwhelming fact is that America has spread to the whole world the deliberate deceitfulness of an oligarchy posing as a true democracy.

Maybe it is not entirely the falut of the media, after all they are just being controlled by the money interests. But we should at least have the freedom to say what we want and have the power to do so. Greg Ruggerio, editor and media activist mentions that "It is legal to purchase a fully assembled Uzi machine gun in this country [United States] but it's not legal to purchase a fully assembled low-watt radio transmitter." Now that's a shame.

Journalist and publisher David Barsamian makes the statement that "one of the intentions of corporate-controlled media is to instill in people a sense of disempowerment, of immobilization and paralysis. Its outcome is to turn you into good consumers. It is to keep people isolated, to feel that there is no possibility for social change." Probably the most ouspoken and respected critic of the false American institutions of today is Noam Chomsky. Noam says that, "The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate."

Edward Herman goes even further with this debate with, "U.S. Ieaders commit war crimes as a matter of institutional necessity, as their imperial role calls for keeping subordinate peoples in their proper place and assuring a "favorable climate of investment" everywhere. They do this by using their economic power, but also (by means of "bombs bursting in the air" and) by supporting Diem, Mobutu, Pinochet, Suharto, Savimbi, Marcos, Fujimori, Salinas, and scores of similar leaders. War crimes also come easily because U.S. Ieaders consider themselves to be the vehicles of a higher morality and truth and can operate in violation of law without cost. It is also immensely helpful that their mainstream media agree that their country is above the law and will support and rationalize each and every venture and the commission of war crimes."

Very few of the media are oligarchist republicans, but they act like it. Half believe that government should guarantee jobs and the majority believe that the United States exploits third world countries and causes poverty but they resist saying so for fear of the advertisers and ratings. They are basically democratic in their politics but this is the liberal thinking that Babylon hates so much. The basis of this hatred is economics and intolerance, not religion unless you consider the worship of the image of the beast a religion. They are not radicals or socialists and most support free enterprise, they are basically very critical of government and big business and socially very liberal but lack the courage to speak out.
