intellect

Intellect is the capacity for knowledge and understanding. You have a conscious and a subconscious mind, sometimes referred to as the objective and subjective mind. With your conscious mind you reason, analyze, and make use of your five senses and you reason inductively and deductively. Your subconscious mind is the seat of memory, emotions and intuition. It is also the seat of clairvoyance, telepathy, the dream state, visions, meditation and prophetic projection and reception. Your subconscious is amenable to the power of suggestion and acts upon it, whether true or false, it does not reason like the conscious mind but accepts the idea given it.

Having an understanding of these things is anathema to those in the church that have chose ignorance over reason. To many of them, intellectual thought is relegated only to worldy wisdom. There is a cloud of darkness over many Christian teachers that deny that you should use the full potential of the mind. The most ignorant of them will tell you that tapping into the intellect is only for the occultist and only a small percentage of the brain is to be utilized. Well if they themselves utilize only that small portion, they have their own limited fulfillment of intellect, that's for sure.

We are under the new covenant where the Lord has put "My laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts and I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people." We all need to open our minds as well as our hearts to receive the things of God. For us to trust in the Lord, we must use our mind. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."

We are created in the image of God. For anyone to suggest that the full utilization of the intellect is evil would cast a blasphemous shadow upon themselves and God's creation. We are told by Jesus to love God with all of our heart, soul and mind and Paul served the law of God through his mind and understood the "mind of the spirit." If we have the mind of Christ, we should be able to use ALL of our mind, body and strength to think clearly and fully and not be as the ignorant would have us. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." This is true especially if God has given to you special charisms of a prophetic nature. God uses our intellect as well as our heart to receive and project the power that He has given us through His Holy Spirit. It is the only way that we are able to learn and assimilate the profound mysteries from Him that God wants us to understand.
